Position Overview
We are seeking an energetic, adaptable occupational therapist with strong clinical reasoning and a passion for working with children and families. This role is ideal for someone who values flexibility, enjoys creative problem-solving, and is comfortable using a family-centered, coaching-based approach. Experience in sensory integration is preferred but not required—training and mentorship are provided.
Work Environment
You’ll work closely with Ellery Lockwood, OTR/L, ADHD-RSP, founder of Brain Waves, with opportunities for mentorship in sensory integration and pediatric practice. Our approach is collaborative, supportive, and designed to help therapists feel confident, efficient, and fulfilled in their work. Our goal is to provide flexible, play-based pediatric OT roles with built-in support, mentorship, and systems designed to make your job easier, so you can focus on what really matters- your clients!
Requirements
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (required)
- Active California OT license (required)
- BLS/CPR certification (required, can be acquired after hire)
- Pediatric experience preferred
- COTA applicants may be considered based on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct evaluations and re-assessments; develop functional, family-centered goals.
- Provide individualized, evidence-based occupational therapy services.
- Collaborate with caregivers using coaching, education, and consultation.
- Deliver services in home and community settings (with occasional telehealth/Zoom consults). Comfortability providing intervention across service areas in San Luis Obispo county, with travel across the county, is required.
- Complete timely documentation (evaluations, SOAP notes, progress reports).
- Participate in periodic supervision and mentorship meetings.
- Maintain licensure, CEUs, and required health clearances.
