Gurnick Academy is a leading Bay Area private healthcare college offering an extensive variety of nursing and allied healthcare programs such as: Vocational Nurse, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN pathway) as well as healthcare programs: Associate of Science in Physical Therapist Assistant, Associate of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant, Ultrasound Technology, MRI, Radiologic Technology, and Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Imaging.
We are currently looking for a Full-Time, Academic FieldWork Coordinator for our Masters’ of Occupational Therapy Program at the San Jose, CA campus. This is a Hybrid position at our San Jose Campus with on ground duties of Clinical Coordination and Lab Instruction on-campus.
Basic Function
The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) is an Occupational Therapist with a minimum of a master’s degree that holds a faculty (academic or clinical) appointment and has administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the academic program. This is a full-time 12-month position. This individual demonstrates competence in clinical education, teaching, and curriculum development. In addition, the AFWC’s primary responsibilities are to plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and monitor activities on behalf of the academic program and in coordination with academic and clinical faculty.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, monitor, and refine the clinical education component of the curriculum
Facilitate quality learning experiences for students during clinical education
Evaluate students' performance in cooperation with other faculty to determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning experiences and to progress within the curriculum.
Educate students, clinical, and academic faculty about clinical education
Select clinical learning environments that demonstrate characteristics of sound patient/client management, ethical and professional behavior, and currency with physical therapy practice
Maximize available resources for the clinical education program
Provide documented records and assessment of the clinical education component (includes clinical education sites, clinical educators, etc.)
Actively engage core faculty in clinical education planning, implementation, and assessment Actively engage in scholarship activities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the MOT program
A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a fieldwork coordinator (FWC) and/or clinical instructor (CI), or experience in teaching curriculum development, and administration in an Occupational Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy program
Minimum of 3 years of occupational experience as an Occupational Therapist
Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory capacity
Experience in a variety of areas of teaching (academic, clinical, continuing education, in-service)
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program
Full-time core faculty teaching in the MOT program must hold an occupational therapy master’s degree awarded by a USDE recognized accrediting body. The master’s degree is not limited to occupational therapy.
Licensed/registered/certified or eligible for licensure/registration/certification as an OTR in California
Able to travel, as needed to clinic facility sites.
Able to initiate, administer, assess, and document clinical education programs.
Earned status as an ACOTE Credentialed Clinical Instructor preferred.
