Brookville Center for Children’s Services is an Office of Children & Family Services (OCFS) approved and licensed Day Care Program and State Education Department (SED) approved program. Children are afforded an enriching experience and adhere to the New York State Standards of Early Childhood Learning. Activities such as music, arts and crafts, language, motor, pre-academic and technology are taught by appropriately credentialed staff.
We are currently seeing an Occupational Therapist evaluate and provide appropriate occupational therapy services to assigned children. This person will participate in planning meetings in terms of children needs; communicate appropriately to families and other professional staff of assigned children.
In this role, you will:
Implement activity therapy goals for facilitation of motor control and developmental skills including upper extremity functioning, fine motor development and sensor-motor/perceptual skills as indicated on assigned children’s IEP’s and IFSP’s.
Assess student needs through a variety of formal and informal measures.
Develop and implement appropriate strategies for intervention as per child’s IEP, or IFSP.
Organize and complete written material in a concise and timely manner.
Participate in conferences, including parent meetings, as assigned.
Maintain a healthy, safe and attractive environment.
Maintain a professional manner appropriate to preschool special education.
Adhere to specific Brookville Center for Children’s Services Program policies and procedures.
Attend and participate in supervision and implement recommendations appropriately.
Address the special needs of each age group served, child, adolescent, adult and older adult, and assist in making reasonable accommodations for the hearing impaired, physically challenged or any other child that may enter the facility.
Respond quickly to child(ren) and/or parent/guardian’s request, refers to appropriate member of the care team, if necessary, and informs supervisor of actions taken.
Promote positive co-worker relationships, teamwork and cooperation.
Adhere to general policies of the organization/regulators including:

Emergency/disaster preparedness protocols.
Fire/Safety prevention protocols.
Departmental in-service education program requirements.
Policies and procedures (attendance, punctuality, appearance,

Infection control practices and procedures.
Licensure and current registration as an Occupational Therapist by the NYS Department of Education.
Knowledge of Basic Anatomy, Neuromotor Development and Developmental Psychology (as normally acquired through a completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy).
Minimum (1) year responsible related work experience working to ensure a working knowledge of assessment and treatment through activities therapy in an educational setting.
