UVA Outpatient Therapy Services at Fontaine is seeking a full-time certified lymphedema therapist (occupational or physical therapy license).
Position Highlights
The provider will work with lymphedema patients in addition to general physical or occupational therapy patients.
Outpatient-only setting.
Office hours are Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.; providers work an 8-hour shift.
An Occupational Therapist 2 or Physical Therapist 2 consistently provides effective direct care to a variety of complex patients. A certified lymphedema therapist is preferred. In doing so, the therapist acts as a role model and supervisor for junior staff and helps identify patients who have unmet occupational therapy needs. A therapist is focused on expanding clinical knowledge and skills beyond the entry level and sharing this knowledge through in-services and participates as an active member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The therapist acts as a role model and may supervise other staff. This level of therapist seeks, as well as provides feedback, for improved clinical practice and begins to assume a leadership role receiving mentoring in this process. Therapists at this level may be asked to contribute to performance appraisals.
Performs occupational therapy or physical therapy evaluations according to professional standards and departmental guidelines.
Demonstrates knowledge of intervention options and executes a program of skilled occupational therapy intervention.
Actively participates in professional growth of self and others.
Actively participates in quality improvement and program development.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy or physical therapy.
Experience: 6 months of relevant experience.
Licensure: Licensed to practice in occupational therapy or physical therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. New grads must be licensed within 6 months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires frequently bending/stooping/traveling (distance: ½ mile). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
