Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and Assistant Teaching Professor of Occupational Therapy
Penn State Mont Alto is seeking a new faculty member to serve as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and Assistant Teaching Professor of Occupational Therapy. This is a limited term , non-tenure position with a 42-week contract starting July 1, 2022, or as negotiated.
The AFWC for a developing Master's in Occupational Therapy program holds a faculty appointment and has administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of The Pennsylvania State University. This individual demonstrates competence in teaching, fieldwork education, curriculum and course development, and accreditation requirements set for by ACOTE. In addition, the AFWC's primary responsibilities are to plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and monitor students' fieldwork experiences. AFWC teaches assigned courses within the Occupational Therapy program using traditional, hybrid, and on-line methods during the weekday and weekends as scheduled. The AFWC participates in student advising, career guidance, NBCOT exam preparation, and licensure processes. The AFWC participates in campus, college, university, professional, and community service activities. The AFWC will participates in professional development activities to stay current in the discipline and teaching in the higher education environment.
Must be a graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program, holding a Post Professional Doctoral degree in occupational therapy for at least eight (8) years. Minimum of ten (10) years full-time equivalent practice as occupational therapist, community-based practice in pediatrics, on-site fieldwork educator of occupational therapy students, significant teaching/learning experience via online environment. Must have significant experience with ACOTE accreditation reporting and/or ACOTE Roster of Accreditation Evaluator (RAE), as well as curriculum development and administrative experience. The applicant must be certified by NBCOT, currently licensed to practice as an occupational therapist in Pennsylvania, and a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association. Demonstrated competency with Office 365, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills are a must. The applicant should have knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal and practice issues affecting clinical and community-based education, the contemporary needs of students, and the profession of occupational therapy. Enthusiasm for working in an interprofessional environment is essential.
