The Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Cuyahoga DD) is seeking Occupational Therapists to promote optimal level of function for the health and safety of toddlers and adults with developmental disabilities and those who are eligible for Cuyahoga DD services through various appropriate therapeutic techniques within guidelines as established by Ohio laws and rules of practice and professional codes of ethics and philosophy of Cuyahoga DD. The nature of work includes the following:
Provide Occupational Therapy assessments using record review, interview, observation and selected assessment instruments as appropriate according to departmental procedures and in a variety of settings; including Cuyahoga DD sites and community.
Engage in collaborative consultation with team members, caregivers, families, and community agencies to assist in the development of recommendations for services and supports.
Provide Occupational Therapy services, including intervention, consultation, instruction, assistive technology, and support services as needed.
If assigned to work in the Early Childhood department, provide Occupational Therapy services in a teaming approach for children birth to three years old based on adult coaching in which one member is a primary service provider and receives supports from other team members.
Develop or assist in individualized programs, which may include functional mobility, positioning, handling, sensory motor, oral motor, fine motor, gross motor, modifications and fabrication of equipment, ADL, and instrumental activities of daily living.
Monitor and update individual client programs and maintain appropriate documentation.
Provide direction to the occupational therapy assistant as required by the occupational therapy licensure law.
Provide direction to the Equipment Assistant.
Participate in inter/intra-agency committees, in-service training, projects or teams as requested or approved by supervisor.
Provide in-services at Cuyahoga DD sites and/or other community settings.

** STARTING SALARY: The actual starting salary will depend on degree (BA vs. MA vs Doctorate) and on years of relevant work experience.
Licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the State of Ohio.
Specific training in developmental disabilities desirable.
Valid driver's license and a driving record that is insurable under the agency policy.
