Performance bonuses, commissions on splints and other durable medical equipment plus opportunities for overtime in addition to a competitive base characterize our compensation methods. Our office venues are well developed and systematically organized. Our OT’s currently average 6 splints per week of all variations. Clinicians have the independent ability to recognize the benefit of and apply any static, static progressive or dynamic splint of the digit, wrist/hand, elbow and/or shoulder regardless of the need for a script. Our venues are located in prime locations of the most densely populated suburban areas on the Maryland side of the Washington DC metropolitan area. Therapists have the ability to control the volume of their schedules and the duration of blocked time for a visit depending on case complexity.
Approximately, 40% of our patients come to us direct without a physician’s referral. 30% of our caseload are returning clients for a different impairment or the recurrence of a chronic condition. Our White Oak, Silver Spring office is 14 years old and currently supports 6 therapists. Our College Park office is 4 years old and currently supports 4. This second office is walking distance to the University of Maryland. Our White Oak office is 15 minutes North West of the University of Maryland. Both offices average 5000 sq ft. Our White Oak office is currently under renovations, yet continues to operate. We are widening our space with an additional 1500 sq ft and raising our ceilings.
Case mix varies and includes post-trauma, degenerative, neurological, sport/orthopedic and chronic pain. Our clinical team members are typically referred to as “complete body-workers”; that is, to effectively serve a large professional community and realize a patient’s maximum functional ability, our team must subjectively understand their patient’s past and present, objectively feel their anatomy and apply contact and non-contact techniques to improve comfort from pain, mobilize and strengthen tissues and get them to move. We typically refer to ourselves as family members. That is, our turnover is low. Finally, our rendering clinicians are taught to understand how different insurances work to cover services. Care episodes benefit greatly from this because clinicians may forecast what and how they are capable of serving them. 6 of our past clinicians have ventured off to open their own.
