Occupational Therapy Associate Fieldwork Coordinator / Clinical Instructor

• Responsibilities: Partners with the Academic Fieldwork & Doctoral Capstone Coordinator to locate, develop, and evaluate clinical/community sites for fieldwork experiences
• Partners with the Academic Fieldwork & Doctoral Capstone Coordinator to establish legal agreements (contracts/MOUs) with fieldwork sites; ensure they remain up-to-date (review/renewals) per accreditation guidelines, including coordination with site coordinators, Business Services, and campus legal counsel, as needed.
• Partners with the Academic Fieldwork & Doctoral Capstone Coordinator to identify, facilitate, and complete/delegate (as appropriate) onboarding aspects associated with student site requirements, including, but not limited to: HIPAA/OSHA/FERPA training, vaccination records, background checks, liability requirements, and site-specific forms. Maintains records associated with these components per accreditation and site-specific guidelines.
• Collaborates with AFWC to produce accreditation reports on all applicable fieldwork accreditation standards within a timely manner, per ACOTE guidelines.
• Communicates legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting occupational therapy clinical education to both faculty and clinical educators, as well as students, as applicable.
• Collaborates with AFWC to provide student orientation to the fieldwork process
• Guides students through the fieldwork process (orientation through completion), including counseling students on site selection, navigating professional challenges while on site, and supporting the overall learning process.
• Serves as faculty advisor for fieldwork students during Level II fieldwork experiences.
• Monitors student progress and maintains communication with fieldwork educators throughout the duration of student placements.
• Communicates with students, financial services, registrar, and other university departments regarding all aspects of the fieldwork experience; establishes and maintains a student fieldwork manual.
• Collaborates with fieldwork educators to establish fieldwork objectives and learning experiences appropriate for Level I and Level II fieldwork, and as necessary, engage in teaching Fieldwork I & II appropriate with the individual's clinical expertise, including directing and advising students placed in their first Level I Fieldwork experience.
• Builds and maintains relationships with clinical community to support fieldwork placements, including coordination of fieldwork educator workshops, alumni gatherings, and other events as appropriate.
• Collaborates with the AFWC to ensure that the fieldwork program reflects the scope and sequence of the curriculum design.
• Conducts site visits, as applicable, to support FW educators and support student success.
• Participates in OT faculty meetings, student admissions process, and other department activities, as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned: (These have included: Serving as faculty advisor for SOTA, participating in student recruitment events, hosting alumni gatherings, assisting with planning for visits from students from Gunma University (Japan), serving on University-wide committees, etc.)
