The University of the Pacific invites qualified applicants to apply for the full-time, 12 month, non-tenure track position of for Capstone coordination for the new Doctorate in Occupational Therapy program housed and delivered on our Sacramento Campus. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The capstone coordinator is responsible for compliance with the capstone requirements of Standards Section D.1.0 and is assigned to the occupational therapy educational program as a full-time core faculty member as defined by ACOTE. This individual must be an occupational therapist who is licensed or otherwise regulated according to regulations in the state(s) or jurisdiction(s) in which the program is located. The capstone coordinator must hold a doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body. For degrees from institutions in countries other than the United States, ACOTE will determine an alternative and equivalent external review process.
Job Description
The doctoral capstone coordinator position is an integral part of the program’s overall curriculum design. The doctoral capstone coordinator provides the student with an in-depth exposure to one or more of the following: clinical practice skills, research skills, administration, leadership, program and policy development, advocacy, education, and theory development.
The doctoral capstone consists of two parts: (1). the Capstone project (2) the Capstone experience.
The Capstone project is designed to demonstrate synthesis and application of theoretical and practical knowledge gained in the program. The Capstone experience is a 14-week capstone community field experience that must be started after completion of all coursework and Level II fieldwork, and completion of preparatory activities defined in D.1.3.
The doctoral capstone coordinator will:
Work closely with the student and the faculty advisor and a community advisor in developing an individual plan to integrate new knowledge gained in OTD courses into their project.
Instructor for courses related to capstone
Implement a project that is mutually beneficial to the community setting and the advancement of the profession.
Formulate a plan that is designed to be more programmatic rather than an intervention plan that will be done on Fieldwork Level II.
Through the Capstone project, the student will demonstrate his/her understanding of advanced Occupational Therapy concepts and the ability to demonstrate leadership and knowledge and ethical practice at the highest level.
The capstone provides the student with an opportunity to demonstrate knowledge translation as an innovative leader, scholar, and practitioner at the doctoral level.
The Doctoral Experiential Internship must be completed within a setting that supports the fulfillment of the capstone project within the setting engaging in activities related to the focus of the project.
The 14 week Doctoral Experiential Internship must be completed prior to graduation.
Prior fieldwork or work experience may not substitute for this Doctoral Experiential Internship.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSBILITIES
EDUCATION:
Terminal degree (OTD, PhD, EdD) from an accredited university with experience in curriculum development, research and supervision of graduate projects required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Certified by NBCOT (The National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy) as an OTR (Registered Occupational Therapist) required.
Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California required by the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT).
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 4 years of full time documented (a minimum of 60 units; e.g. 20 3-unit course or their equivalent) teaching experience in an ACOTE accrediting agency (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) Occupational Therapy program.
Working with online learning management systems to further engage the student learning process desirable.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and other MS office products as needed.
Minimum of two years of experience in clinical practice and experience in supervising Fieldwork Level II students.
Knowledge of Sacramento medical community and established relationships with professional memberships.
Knowledge of accreditation standards such as WASC, ACOTE and other accreditation standards preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Required qualifications:
Must be an initially certified as an occupational therapist who is licensed in the state of California or eligible for licensure within a year of appointment.
Must hold a doctoral degree from an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE). The doctoral degree is not limited to a doctorate in Occupational Therapy.
Must have a minimum of 3 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy. This experience must include:
Familiarity with various curriculum delivery modalities
Administrative experience which may include: program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation and budgeting.
Evidence of a substantial record of scholarly publications and research.
At least 3 years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching ACOTE® is the recognized accreditation agency for occupational therapy education in the United States by both the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). USDE and CHEA regulations require that all actions and decisions of the accreditation agency be made independent from any related professional or trade association. Historically, ACOTE has been the body with the authority to mandate the entry-level degree for occupational therapy education.
Previous responsibilities at the post-baccalaureate level.
Minimum Qualifications
Post-professional doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body.
Initially certified occupational therapist and licensed or eligible for license by the California Board.
Two years of clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist.
Documented experience in an area of teaching responsibility and knowledge of content delivery method (e.g. documentation of continuing professional development, relevant experience, faculty development plan reflecting acquisition of new content, incorporation of feedback from course evaluations).
Expertise necessary to ensure appropriate curriculum design, content delivery, and program evaluation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and/or Doctoral Capstone Coordinator.
Experience with curriculum design, content delivery, and program evaluation.
Projects professionalism for the University in all communication and interaction.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of sensitive data.
Ability to prioritize and organize numerous and varied assignments.
