Specialist Professor/Academic Fieldwork Coordinator

Position Summary: Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Specialist Professor/Academic Fieldwork Coordinator in the Occupational Therapy department, which is part of the School of Nursing and Health Studies. This non-tenure track position is for the Spring 2020 semester, and is a two year initial appointment subject to subsequent multi-year reappointments without limit. The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) is responsible for the developing, planning and monitoring of all occupational therapy student clinical experiences and for teaching a maximum of 6.0 credits of fieldwork related materials within the full-time, 12 months contract period. The fieldwork office is anchored in the sequence and scope of content in the curriculum design and in collaboration with faculty it facilitates the connection between propositional and practice knowledge strengthening the ties of clinical practice. The AFWC reports to the department Chair and is responsible for coordinating clinical experiences that will prepare reflective, creative, and competent health care professional practitioners for both traditional and emerging practice settings.
Required Degree, License or Certifications: Master's degree
Required Skills or Software: Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
Required Years of Experience: 3
Other Requirements: Master’s degree or higher in occupational therapy or related major awarded by an institution that is accredited by a United States Department of Education (USDE)-recognized regional accrediting body.
Possess initial certification by National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and be eligible for Occupational Therapy (OT) licensure in New Jersey.
Three years of clinical experience, including two years of experience supervising fieldwork students. Management or leadership position experience.
Capacity in using current computer technology systems in higher education. Skill in planning and implementing projects with vision, creativity, energy, and collegiality.
Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in working with diverse constituencies inside and outside the campus community. Ability to understand and implement institutional, accrediting, state and federal standards, laws, and/or regulations for higher education.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree. Experience as clinical coordinator.
