OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (Full time & Locum)

KING EDWARD MEMORIAL HOSPITAL and MID ATLANTIC WELLNESS INSTITUTE

Key responsibilities include:

•          Meeting productivity standards set by the department for direct patient contact and other related non-patient contact duties
•          Performing an appropriate assessment on all in and/or outpatients following referral; use objective clinical measures to identify problems and formulate treatment plans based on realistic stated goals; carry out specific therapeutic interventions as indicated ensuring that a client centered approach is employed throughout this process
•           Utilizes diplomacy in supervising and delegating specific written treatment plans to aides, assistants, and/or students
•          Observing and evaluating treatment effect; communicating patient progress or lack of to appropriate staff and physicians
•          Maintaining patient documentation using the appropriate paperwork and electronic medical record, ensuring documentation meets current standards and policies; prepares specific clinical reports as requested
•          Keeping accurate and timely statistics of both direct and indirect time spent and prepares specific clinical reports as required
•          Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; liaison with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality service and continuity of care
•          Flexibility and creativity to accommodate the needs of the patients, care givers and the multidisciplinary team 

         Contributes to improvements in Occupational Therapy services in their assigned area(s) through programme development and continuous quality improvements

Qualifications &/ registration required:

•          Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required with certification, if applicable, in jurisdiction of training
•          Local registration to practice with the Council for Allied Health Professions (CAHP) and meet all re-registration requirements

 Schedule:

 Allied Health Services at KEMH participates in a six-day rota that includes evenings, weekends and public holidays.

 Salary Grade:

$99,053.40 - $106,626.90 / $54.4249 - $58.5862 per hour (BP25-27) (The Bermuda dollar is on par with USD)

KING EDWARD MEMORIAL HOSPITAL:

•          Minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience in a related Occupational Therapy environment, preferably within a hospital setting
•          Experience in evaluation, treatment and management of neurological conditions, upper extremity and hands an asset

MID-ATLANTIC WELLNESS INSTITUTE:

•          7-10 years experience as a practicing Occupational Therapist, with 3-5 of those years within a behavioural health setting (Intellectual Disabilities, Substance Abuse or Mental Health)
•          Experience in evaluation, treatment and management of diagnosis that fall under either of the following categories (Intellectual Disabilities, Substance Abuse or Mental Health)
