UT San Antonio Health Science Center, in partnership with the national search firm Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Full Time Open Rank Faculty Position, Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) Program. UT Health San Antonio seeks a collaborative and student-centered faculty member to join its accredited OTD program and contribute to the continued growth and evolution of occupational therapy education. This is a full-time, 12-month faculty appointment reporting to the Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy and offers the opportunity to engage meaningfully in teaching, scholarship, and service within a supportive academic environment.
The appointment may be tenure-track, tenured, or non-tenure faculty at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor, or Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor, depending on qualifications and experience. Faculty rank, salary, and tenure status will be determined based on the successful candidate’s background and qualifications.
The selected faculty member will work collaboratively with the Department Chair to align responsibilities with program priorities and individual expertise in support of OTD program goals and outcomes. Faculty are expected to contribute to departmental, school, and institutional initiatives that advance the university’s mission and vision. Responsibilities may include a combination of teaching, research and scholarly activity, student advising and mentoring, committee and service contributions, clinical and community engagement, and or fieldwork coordination.
Responsibilities:
Duties and workload will be determined individually for each core faculty member and will constitute a combination of:
- Teaching in the classroom, laboratory, small groups and community.
- Scholarly and/or research activities that support the departmental strategic plan.
- Student advisement and mentoring related to academic coursework, professional behaviors, fieldwork education, and the doctoral capstone development and experience.
- Departmental, institutional, and professional committee service as determined by chair and faculty member.
- Participation in professional association activities, community engagement, clinical practice, and other responsibilities as determined by the Chair, with additional responsibility to participate in student recruitment and retention efforts, as well as occasional off-campus, evening, or weekend activities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of clinical practice experience in the field of occupational therapy (OT).
- Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution in a field to support excellence in occupational therapy education
- OT Texas licensure required. Newly employed faculty members must have Texas license by first day of employment.
- Current/Active NBCOT certification.
- Documented expertise and experiences in teaching, scholarship and service within the areas assigned by department chair.
- Documented expertise and experiences as an OT Fieldwork Educator in the practice setting, including mentorship and supervision of OT students preferred.
