Creighton University, a Catholic and Jesuit institution, is actively seeking applications for a full time
(12 month) faculty position in our top 15 nationally ranked Doctor of Occupational Therapy
(OTD) program in Omaha, Nebraska. This position will be at the Assistant/Associate Professor level
and will have a Tenure-Track appointment in the Department of Occupational Therapy.
Creighton seeks a quality educator who is passionate about advancing the profession of
occupational therapy through innovation, creativity, and evidence of research and scholarship in
rehabilitation science. Creighton’s entry-level OTD program is a hybrid program with cohorts of
students located in Omaha, Nebraska, Anchorage, Alaska, Denver, Colorado, and Phoenix, Arizona.
Faculty are responsible for teaching in the hybrid OTD curriculum, fulfilling a scholarly agenda, and
participating in professional and community-based service.
Creighton’s comprehensive Health Science Campus includes academic disciplines in medicine,
physician assistant, nursing, pharmacy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. In addition to
state-of-the-art facilities, the Omaha campus is home to faculty with contemporary expertise and
diverse research agendas, including highly competitive grant-based initiatives. We also collaborate
closely with colleagues in our hybrid pathways at all cohort locations.
Teaching & Educational Responsibilities:
- Primary teaching responsibilities in orthopedics, upper extremity, physical agent modalities, and/or hand therapy practice within the Department of Occupational Therapy.
- Manage coursework and teach proficiently to provide excellent education in face-toface, hybrid, and/or online learning environments.
- Potential for teaching in other courses in the curriculum and University.
- Work directly with faculty, co-instructors, and special faculty to provide oversight, coordinate and teach the assigned OTD courses including laboratory components and examinations.
- Maintain open, consistent communication with faculty, administrators, and staff across Omaha, Alaska, Regis, and Phoenix pathways in the Department of Occupational Therapy to ensure optimal learning experiences for students.
- Participate in a rigorous scholarly agenda as a tenure-track applicant as outlined in Creighton University’s Faculty Handbook.
- Assist in student admission interviews, student advising, and other committee responsibilities as assigned.
- Provide mentorship for capstone projects and/or research as assigned.
- Participate in program evaluation and actions related to program improvement.
- Maintain current knowledge of occupational therapy literature, reimbursement, and ACOTE standards to maintain program adherence and integrity.
- Collaborate with Creighton University Health Science faculty and staff to facilitate and participate in interprofessional learning activities and experiences.
- Engage in service to the Department of Occupational Therapy, the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, and Creighton University.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of Creighton University and the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.
Qualifications:
- This position is a full-time tenure-track position (assistant/associate level).
- The candidate should have experience in ortho, upper extremity, physical agent modalities, hand therapy practice, and/or related outpatient rehabilitation experience as a primary focus.
- Preferred completion of an academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, or equivalent), will consider OTD and POTD candidates with aligned practice experience.
- 3-5 years of occupational therapy practice experience.
- Demonstrated evidence in teaching graduate courses both in-person and online formats is preferred.
- Demonstrated evidence of research / scholarly achievement through peer-reviewed publications and/or grants.
- Eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in Nebraska.
- Candidate must possess effective communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Service/Clinical Practice Responsibilities: Refer to the appropriate rank within the Faculty
Handbook. Clinical practice hours to maintain specialty certification are supported as negotiated
with the Program Chair, OTD Program.
Scholarship Responsibilities: Refer to the appropriate rank within the Faculty Handbook. Faculty
are expected to maintain scholarly activity.
